Wolf Pack strength and conditioning coach Matt Eck, who has been at Nevada since 2001 and led the department since 2008, will remain on staff despite Jordon Simmons being hired to run the football team's day-to-day strength operation.
First-year Nevada football coach Jay Norvell interviewed multiple people for the job before settling on Simmons. While Eck has overseen the football program since elevating to the top job in 2008, the hiring of Simmons doesn’t mean Eck will no longer be on staff. He’ll just be in a different role.
“The head football coach likes to have their own person and somebody they trust,” Nevada AD Doug Knuth said.
