Former UCLA head coach Steve Alford was named the new Nevada men's basketball coach on Thursday.
Alford was fired in December after UCLA got off to a 7-6 start this season. He had a 124-63 record in his six seasons at the Pac-12 Conference program.
Prior to coaching the Bruins, Alford's previous Division I stops were at New Mexico, Iowa, and Southwest Missouri State (now known as Missouri State).
