Soccer: UTEP gets past Nevada in overtime

Playing in its fourth consecutive overtime match, the Nevada soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision in extra time to visiting UTEP Sunday afternoon at Mackay Stadium.

Just over three minutes into the first overtime period the Miners (6-3-0) got their chance to break the scoreless deadlock. On a ball that fell through the middle of the pitch, UTEP’s Angela Cutaia buried her shot in the bottom left corner of the net.

The Wolf Pack had plenty of chances in the match, starting with a penalty kick in the 27th minute. Senior Lindsey Salcido stepped up to take the shot but was denied by UTEP goalkeeper Alyssa Palacios.
