Nicola Ader gives herself a good talking to almost every time she is competing, that's how she focuses and blocks any outside distractions.
And that tactic helped get her to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field championships this week.
Ader, a sophomore at Nevada, qualified in the high jump late last month at the Mountain West Championships.
Her height of 6-feet-even (1.83 meters) is sixth in the nation. The height tied the Nevada school record in the high jump.
