Patty Sheehan and Rebecca Gaston officially became parents in 1997 when their adopted daughter, Bryce, was welcomed. But the couple’s first child was born in 1994. That child was borne not from the body but from the mind. It was first scribbled on a napkin in London and named after a French winery.
