CLOVIS, Calif. – With a personal best of 5,508 points, Nevada junior Nicole Wadden captured the silver medal in the heptathlon at the Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday.
It is Wadden’s first silver medal in the event after she took home the bronze at last year’s outdoor conference championships. She won gold in the pentathlon earlier this season at the indoor conference championships. Her point total is the second-best in program history, breaking her previous mark of 5,317 points.
The heptathlon came down to the wire as Wadden entered the final event, the 800 meters, trailing eventual champion Jessica Green of Colorado State by 95 points.
