Wolf Pack outfielder TJ Friedl was one of 25 players to make USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team on Friday, making him the first Nevada player to make a national team since 2004.
Friedl recently attended the invitation-only national trials in Fullerton, Calif., and will play for Team USA in the International Friendship Series from July 5-26 in games against Chinese Taipei, Japan and Cuba. Friedl was one of seven players from non-Power 5 schools to make the roster.
The last Nevada baseball player to play for Team USA was catcher Brett Hayes in 2004 for the gold-medal winning World University Baseball Championship team.
