There was no surprise Monday when Nevada's Jordan Caroline was named the Mountain West player of the week, but he also was named the national player of the week by NBC Sports. College Sports Madness named him the high major player of the week.
The sophomore forward averaged 32 points, 12 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 53.5 percent from the field and 60 percent from three in wins over San Diego State and New Mexico.
Caroline exploded for a career-high 45 points on 17-of-29 shooting in a 105-104 overtime win over New Mexico in which Nevada overcame the largest deficit in the final five minutes in NCAA history (19 points).
