Pack's Butler named to Maxwell Award watch list

Wolf Pack running back James Butler was named Tuesday to the Maxwell Award watch list.

The Maxwell Award is presented annually to the nation's best college football player. Butler was one of 90 players, including 40 running backs, named to the watch list.

A 5-foot-9, 210 pound junior out of Bloomingdale, Ill., Butler rushed for 1,153 yards and eight touchdowns last season, becoming the first Nevada sophomore to hit the 1,000-yard mark since Vai Taua in 2008. In his two-year career, Butler has rushed for 1,977 yards and 15 touchdowns.

After his strong 2015, Butler said during spring camp he's looking to have an even bigger 2016.
