Pack's Butler named to Doak Walker Award watch list

Wolf Pack running back James Butler was named Friday to his second preseason national watch.

Butler, a junior, added a Doak Walker Award watch list honor to his Maxwell Award watch list. The Doak Walker Award is given to the nation's top running back. The Maxwell Award is given to the nation's top player.

Butler was a backup for all but Nevada's Arizona Bowl game last season but still rushed for 1,153 yards, the 11th most in a single season in program history, as well as eight touchdowns. He was the first Nevada sophomore to hit 1,000 yards since Vai Taua in 2008 and has rushed for 1,977 yards and 15 touchdowns in his two-year career.
