Pack women's basketball loses opener

The Nevada women’s basketball team opened its 2015-16 season with an 84-47 loss to San Diego on Friday night.

On the team’s “We Back Pat” night, 1,119 fans visited Lawlor Events Center, which means Pack coach Jane Albright will donate $1,119 to the Pat Summitt Foundation.

The Toreros (1-0) took advantage of 21 Wolf Pack turnovers. USD also had a 44-28 rebounding edge.

The Wolf Pack had two players finish in double figures. First-year guard Stephanie Schmid had a team-high 12 points and senior Nyasha LeSure finished with 11 points.

Nevada continues its homestand with a game against Montana State on Sunday.
