Pack women's basketball launches National Anthem movement

When the Nevada women’s basketball team stands for the National Anthem before its season opener at Lawlor Events Center on Friday, it hopes to be joined by a host of Native Americans.

When it stands for the anthem before its game Dec. 1, it hopes to be joined by members of the LGBTQ alliance.

When it stands for the anthem Dec. 31, it hopes to be joined by members of the homeless community.

When it stands for the anthem Feb. 15, it hopes to be joined by active and retired Air Force members.

After seeing Nevada’s most famous alum, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, stir a national debate by first sitting and then kneeling for the National Anthem, the Wolf Pack women wanted to do something in the same vein.
