The Wolf Pack proved during the regular season it was the best team in the Mountain West but when it comes conference tournament time that distinction historically doesn't meant much.
In fact, it might actually be a deterrent.
Consider: In the 17 MW Tournaments, the No. 1 seed, which Nevada sports this season, has won only three times.
Despite having the league’s top record and its most talented team, the odds aren’t in the Wolf Pack’s favor.
“Everyone has new life right now,” Wolf Pack coach Eric Musselman said. “If you were kind of struggling and felt like you didn’t have a chance to win the league, maybe lost a game here or there and when you get to the conference tournament everybody feels like they have a chance and everybody does have chance.
