Pack banks on conditioning to overcome lack of depth

Before the Wolf Pack basketball season begins, every player on the roster must pass a test: the mile run.

Guards have to run the mile in less than 5 minutes, 30 seconds. Forwards get 5:45. So, what happens if a player can’t hit that number?

“You run it again until you get the mark,” sophomore Cameron Oliver said.

The Wolf Pack takes its conditioning seriously, and it shows on the court. Nevada has had just eight scholarship players for the majority of this season (and last year), yet it’s been the best second-half team in the Mountain West the last two seasons and peaked at the end of the year in both campaigns.
