Pack alum Stassi fights back tears after making big-league team

After six seasons in the minor leagues, former Wolf Pack player Brock Stassi can finally call himself a big-leaguer.

The 27-year-old, who starred at Nevada from 2008-11, captured the final spot on the Philadelphia Phillies' big-league roster. Stassi will become the 20th player in Wolf Pack history to play in a major league game when he does make his first appearance with the Phillies.

“A dream come true,” Stassi told reporters while holding back tears.

Stassi, from Yuba City, Calif., is the second member of his family to make a big-league team. His younger brother, Max, is a catcher for the Astros.
