Old friends meet when Nevada battles SDSU

SAN DIEGO – Nevada’s Cameron Oliver and San Diego State's Malik Pope first met when they were freshman phenoms in Sacramento.

Oliver moved from Oakland to Sacramento prior to his freshman year of high school and immediately met a kindred basketball soul in Pope. Oliver was a bouncy big man and Pope a versatile pogo stick, two forwards who seemed destined for huge things in college and potentially even at the professional level.

Prior to their junior year, the quick friends teamed up to take down the seniors in a NorCal upperclassmen All-Star showcase. But after that game, the two have rarely been on the same court at the same time.
