Offensive firepower pushes Pack to win in season opener

Cameron Oliver picked up his second foul just three minutes into Nevada’s game Monday against Loyola Marymount and was banished to the bench for the rest of the half.

Jordan Caroline also had to take a seat early after being whistled for two fouls midway through the first half.

But all that early foul trouble to Nevada’s starting forwards did was open up an opportunity for junior center for Elijah Foster, and Foster took it from there. The high-energy big man scored a career-high 18 points, hitting 7-of-8 shots from the field, and added 10 rebounds for his first career double-double to lead Nevada past LMU, 79-64, before 6,176 fans at the home opener at Lawlor Events Center.
