Technically, the Wolf Pack football team can’t be bowl eligible this season.
But, technically, the Wolf Pack could still play in a bowl.
To become bowl eligible, a team must win at least six games, with five of those coming against FBS opponents. Nevada is only at four wins as it plays its final regular-season game Saturday at rival UNLV. That means Nevada can only get to five wins, short of the six-win bowl minimum. But it could still find its way into the postseason.
That’s because there could be more bowl slots available than bowl-eligible teams, which happened last year when three spots ended up going to 5-7 squads: Nebraska, Minnesota and San Jose State.
