Junior Melissa Arriaga went 2-for-3 with a game-tying RBI single and freshman Brooke Bolinger struck out five in seven innings of work, but it wasn’t enough as New Mexico avoided the sweep with a 3-2 win over the Nevada softball team on Sunday afternoon at Hixson Park.
Senior Amanda Weis had a pinch-hit double that gave the Wolf Pack (25-8, 6-3 MW) its first lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth. Senior Megan Sweet picked up two hits in the loss, moving her into third place in program history with 224 career hits.
Bolinger cruised through five innings, where she picked up four her five strikeouts.
