After the Wolf Pack football team’s 2017 season ended, Malik Reed walked into Jay Norvell’s office with a request: He wanted to ask his coach if it would be OK to move to linebacker.
Reed had established himself as Nevada’s best defensive player the last two seasons, winning All-MW second-team honors at defensive end as a sophomore and first-team honors as a junior, so it would have been easy for both sides to stick to the status quo.
