Nevada football coach Jay Norvell addressed the Mountain West Conference postponing football season earlier this week in a letter sent to season-ticket holders on Thursday.
The MWC school presidents voted on Monday to postpone all the fall conference sports until spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Norvell wrote that it took him a few days to digest the news, adding that the Wolf Pack had been preparing for the upcoming season since spring sports were shut down last March.
His letter states that the 2020 football team has been years in the making and could have competed for a championship
He added that the safety and mental well-being of the students is paramount.
