The superlatives never seem to end with the New Mexico rushing attack.
The Lobos not only lead the nation in rushing yards per game (357) and rushing yards per attempt (6.78), it’s also first in the country in rushes of 20-plus yards (29), 30-plus yards (19), 40-plus yards (15), 50-plus yards (12), 60-plus yards (eight) and 70-plus yards (four).
Statistically speaking, New Mexico has the NCAA’s best rushing attack.
“It’s a bear to handle,” Wolf Pack coach Brian Polian said.
And the Wolf Pack hasn’t handled too many rushing attacks well this season. Nevada ranks fifth worst in the nation in run defense and allowed 401 rushing yards in its last game, a 42-34 loss to Wyoming, a game in which its linebacker corps was devastated by injuries.
