Nevada guard Grant Sherfield claimed his second major Mountain West award on Wednesday.
Sherfield, a junior, was named as the Mountain West’s preseason player of the year as the conference kicked off its annual two-day media gathering. He was also named to the five-man preseason All-Mountain West team.
Sherfield joins former Wolf Pack star Caleb Martin (2018-19) on the list of Nevada players to claim the conference’s top preseason honor. He’s also the sixth Pack player named to the preseason All-MW team, joining Deonte Burton, Cameron Oliver, Jordan Caroline, Caleb Martin and Cody Martin (2018-19).
The 2020-21 season finished with Sherfield being named the Mountain West’s newcomer of the year (and also to the All-MW first team).
