For the second time in as many season, the Nevada baseball team has knocked off a ranked foe.
Behind a stellar debut from junior-college transfer Dalton Gomez, the Wolf Pack shut out No. 13/22 Cal State Fullerton, 2-0, at Goodwin Field on Tuesday night.
It was Nevada's first victory against a ranked team since beating No. 6 Clemson, 7-5, on the road last May. The Wolf Pack also beat No. 5 Texas Tech, 8-4, in February 2015.
Gomez (1-0), a 5-foot-8, 190-pound lefty from College of San Mateo, scattered seven hits and struck out five while tossing eight scoreless innings in his Division I debut.
