Nevada apologizes to Rebels for 'FUNLV' message

The Nevada-UNLV game on Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium began with the school's football team captains, athletic directors, school presidents and student body presidents meeting at midfield for the opening coin toss in a sign of unity.

It ended with Nevada athletic director Doug Knuth sending a note of apology to UNLV's brass.

After the Wolf Pack's win over the rival Rebels, Nevada's players retrieved the Fremont Cannon from its locker room, rolled it to midfield and started to spray paint it blue. The phrase "FUNLV" was spray painted on the cannon before being covered over with more blue paint.
