Nevada advances to MW Championship finals

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Nevada baseball team has advanced to the Mountain West Championship finals for the first time in program history.

The third-seeded Wolf Pack advanced by run-ruling fifth-seeded Air Force, 12-1, in seven innings on Saturday afternoon in an elimination game at Santa Ana Start Field.

The Wolf Pack (37-23) will now meet second-seeded hosts New Mexico (37-21) at 4 p.m. in the first of potentially two finals games. Nevada needs to win in order to force a winner-take-all game at noon on Sunday.

Nevada scored 12 unanswered runs to rout the Falcons. Junior RHP Ty Pennington pitched a complete game in his first career start at Nevada.
