Each week, RGJ sports writer Chris Murray will rank the Mountain West football teams. Here are this week's rankings, with each team's overall record, next opponent and a comment.
Comment: Boise State passed the "triple-option" test by destroying New Mexico. The Broncos have struggled against New Mexico and Air Force the last couple of years but led 49-7 going into the fourth quarter and while it did allow 382 rushing yards, the Lobos reached the red zone only twice. Even better news for Boise State: Houston lost, which put the Broncos in the driver's seat for a New Year's Six bowl.
