Mountain West rankings: Nevada (and San Jose State) are certainly consistent this season

It’s nice to have some things you can count on, like the top and the bottom of the RGJ’s Mountain West basketball power rankings.

The final installment of the rankings looks much like the first list, and the second, and all of those in-between — Nevada at the top, San Jose State at the bottom, a definite second tier, and a muddled mess in the middle.

Although they tied for the Mountain West title, the Wolf Pack gets the final No. 1 slot over Utah State based on its top seed for the Mountain West Tournament, its better overall record, its higher polls ranking, and its better NET ranking.
