When the Nevada baseball team returns to the field Thursday at 6 p.m. at Peccole Park, its macro-vision goal will be simple: It must sweep a three-game series with rival UNLV to earn a share of the Mountain West title.
That goal wouldn’t be attainable without middle infielders Justin Bridgman and Miles Mastrobuoni.
Bridgman and Mastrobuoni began the season, way back in the fall, competing against each for the starting shortstop job. In the end, they both won starting gigs, Bridgman at shortstop and Mastrobuoni at second base, with the big winner of that position battle being the Wolf Pack as that duo, along with center fielder TJ Friedl and catcher and Justin Hazzard, has fortified the middle of Nevada’s defense.
