The newly renovated Mackay Stadium will celebrate its 50th anniversary this season. We will count down the 50 most memorable games in the stadium's history with one game per day until the Wolf Pack's 2016 season opener Sept. 2 against Cal Poly. Here is today's entry.
Key stat: 507 - Chris Vargas completed 35-of-48 passes for 457 yards - the 13th most in a game in Pack history - and four touchdowns and rushed for 50 yards on nine carries for a 507-yard effort. Vargas outplayed SJSU's Jeff Garcia, a future NFL Pro Bowler, who accounted for 291 yards and four scores.
