Local players join NFL National Anthem protest started by Colin Kaepernick

The originator of the NFL's National Anthem protest, Colin Kaepernick, has strong locals ties having played for the Wolf Pack, and those protests kicked back up last weekend by the dozens after President Trump's criticism of the peaceful protests.

Among those protesting on Sunday were Virgil Green, a Wolf Pack alum who raised a fist, typically a symbol of solidarity and support for a given movement, during the playing of the Star-Spangled Banner before the Denver Broncos' game at the Buffalo Bills.

Rishard Matthews, a teammate of Kaepernick's at Nevada who was initially against his stance, was going to kneel for the anthem, but the Tennessee Titans opted to stay in the locker room for the playing of the song.
