When Claudia Herrero was 15, she left her native Spain and visited America for the first time.
Her final destination was New York for a family vacation.
“It was so different,” she said. “Everything was so big and there were so many people. It was like a movie.”
During the family trip, Herrero also saw the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, which hosts the U.S. Open every year in Queens. Herrero didn’t get to go inside the stadium but was in awe of it from the outside.
“I never thought I’d play there,” Herrero said, “but it looked so cool.
