John Ramey, new 'Voice of the Wolf Pack,' to make debut Saturday

Chris Murray/RGJ

Like many little kids, John Ramey wanted to be an astronaut when he was younger. But at age 10, he became infatuated with President Kennedy and decided politics would be his future. His ambitions took another turn at age 13 when he had decided he would instead join the family business. He would become a sports broadcaster.

All it took was a couple of trips to Stanford’s broadcast booth. His father, Hal, called the Cardinal football games and young John served as dad’s spotter. There wasn’t a specific moment Ramey knew sportscasting was his future, but it didn’t take more than a handful of games before the broadcast booth felt like home.
