When Jazz Johnson stepped on the court at his home arena last season, he was typically greeted by an underwhelming crowd. Playing for Portland, Johnson excelled at his craft, averaging 15.8 points per game, but there weren’t many around to see him as the program averaged 2,366 fans per home game.
So, when Johnson, a 5-foot-10, 200-pound point guard, opted to transfer after the season, one thing he was looking for was a community that supported its program. The 20-year-old found that at Nevada, a school coming off a record-setting attendance season in which it averaged 8,923 fans per home game.
