Improving the Nevada football team's defense starts in spring camp

Nevada has never been known for its defense, and that trend didn’t change in Jay Norvell’s first season.

The Wolf Pack allowed 33.9 points per game last season, the second most in the Mountain West and 106th most in the nation. The run defense and pass defense were equally poor, with the team yielding 471.3 yards per game. Only 10 FBS teams allowed more. That led to a midstream change in recruiting philosophy for Norvell, who looked to add size to his frontline and athleticism to his backend for the 2018 season.

“There’s one thing that’s crystal clear to me,” Norvell said on signing day.
