Hot shooting Air Force flies past Nevada in Mountain West women’s basketball tourney

LAS VEGAS — Air Force made nine of its 16 3-point attempts Monday afternoon to beat Nevada, 75-60, in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West women’s basketball tournament at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The No. 5 seed Falcons, led by 17 points apiece from Cierra Winters and Riley Snyder, improved to 18-12 and will play top-seed UNLV in Tuesday’s semifinals. AFA shot 50.9 percent overall.

No. 4 seed Nevada dropped to 19-11 and will now hope for a call from one of the two major women’s basketball postseason tournaments, the NIT or Women's Basketball Invitational.

The Wolf Pack was led by 23 points from senior guard Da’Ja Hamilton.
