The Nevada-UNLV football game was already a highly charged, emotional and intense rivalry and now there's an added layer of intrigue.
UNLV (3-8, 1-6 Mountain West) fired football coach Tony Sanchez on Monday, five days before the Rebels play Nevada (7-4 overall, 4-3 Mountain West) at Mackay Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon Saturday.
Sanchez is still expected to coach the Rebels on Saturday.
