When Eric Musselman met Elijah Foster for the first time in March 2015, his first impression wasn’t a great one.
“The first day I saw him I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, really?’” Musselman recalled.
That’s because the 6-foot-7 Foster checked in at 268 pounds and was nowhere near the kind of shape required to be an effective Division I player. But after slimming down to a fitter 240 pounds last offseason, he became a starter who averaged 16 minutes per game. This year, he has played an even bigger role.
“He’s had an unbelievable attitude,” Musselman said.
