LAS VEGAS – The Nevada basketball team is headed to its first NCAA Tournament since 2007 after beating Colorado State, 79-71, in the Mountain West Tournament championship game on Saturday at Thomas & Mack Center.
With the win, the Wolf Pack earned the MW’s automatic spot in the NCAA Tournament. The selection show will air on CBS at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Most projections have Nevada as an 11 or 12 seed.
The Wolf Pack (28-6) came out strong in Saturday against Colorado State. Nevada scored the game’s first nine points and led by as many as 16 in the first half before taking a 44-32 lead at intermission after the Rams’ Prentiss Nixon banked in a 35-foot 3-pointer at the buzzer.
