As Wolf Pack men seek to salvage season, 3 favorites emerge to win Mountain West tourney

It’s been a breakthrough season for men’s basketball in the Mountain West, which seems certain to send at least three teams to the NCAA Tournament.

First up, though, the conference will settle its championship with a four-day tournament at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Boise State (24-7) enters as the regular-season champion at No. 1 seed, but the gap between the Broncos and the likes of 2-seed Colorado State (24-4) and 3-seed San Diego State (21-7) is very thin.

Meanwhile, teams such as Wyoming (24-7) and Utah State (17-14) have also been appearing on many NCAA watch lists.
