1,000 Words: Pack should name something after this man

Reno Gazette-Journal columnist Chris Murray has been known to be a bit wordy, so we're giving him 1,000 words (no more than that) to share his thoughts from the week that was in the world of sports.

* FROM 1951-2004, ONLY THREE PEOPLE served as the Nevada Wolf Pack’s athletic director, a chain of command from Jake Lawlor to Dick Trachok to Chris Ault that spanned 53 years, which, in retrospect, is crazy. People weren’t trying to climb the ladder in college athletics in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s like they do today because the financial incentive wasn’t nearly as strong.
