1,000 Words: Nevada football's reasons for optimism and pessimism

Reno Gazette-Journal columnist Chris Murray has been known to be a bit wordy, so we're giving him 1,000 words (no more than that) to share his thoughts from the week that was in the world of sports.

* COLLEGE FOOTBALL FALL CAMP is like Major League Baseball spring training: optimism abounds and will remain that way until the first game is played. For Nevada, that first game isn’t too far away. Less than two weeks to be precise, and it should be an easy one against an FCS team – Portland State – that went winless in 2017, although the Wolf Pack showed last year no game can be taken for granted.
