1,000 Words: How the Wolf Pack became draft dodgers

Reno Gazette-Journal columnist Chris Murray has been known to be a bit wordy, so we're giving him 1,000 words (no more than that) to share his thoughts from the week that was in the world of sports.

* THERE USED TO BE A TIME WHEN NFL draft day meant a lot in Wolf Pack land. During a three-year period from 2011-13, the Nevada football team had nine players selected in the draft. That was the 31st-best mark among the nation's 124 FBS schools and the second most among non-Power 5 schools, just one behind Boise State.
