The 2013 Nebraska football spring game was an emotional one for the program, with the ultimate highlight of the day in Lincoln coming courtesy of one brave little boy -- seven-year-old cancer patient Jack Hoffman.
The program adopted Hoffman as their own after the young boy added meeting then-Huskers running back Rex Burkhead to his bucket list prior to his second brain surgery to remove a malignant tumor.
Hoffman had the opportunity to meet Burkhead prior to the operation, and after a tough 60-week regimen of chemotherapy, Burkhead and the Nebraska football team decided to do something VERY special for him.
