Nebraska senior defensive specialist Sydney Townsend received the Elite 90 award Wednesday night in Kansas City. It was the second straight year Townsend, a Lincoln Pius X graduate, and is one of just two Division I women's volleyball student-athletes to earn multiple Elite 90 awards in a career.
The Elite 90 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships. The biochemistry major has a 3.83 cumulative GPA.
