Steven M. Sipple: Former UCF linebacker regards Chinander as a 'wizard of defense'

Perhaps Nebraska football fans have legitimate reasons to feel uneasy about the Huskers' new defensive staff.

After all, Central Florida allowed a combined 97 points and 1,406 yards of total offense in its last two games, against South Florida and Memphis, and the Knights' coaching staff now resides in Lincoln.

Or maybe Nebraska fans can find comfort in former UCF inside linebacker Demeitre Brim's glowing assessment of Erik Chinander, the Huskers' new defensive coordinator.

"I personally — and I know a lot of people at UCF — think coach Chinander is a wizard of defense," said Brim, a 12-game starter as a senior in 2016.
