KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — When Nebraska football hosts Akron in its home opener in September, Tom Osborne Field will look considerably different than it has in past years.

The Block N logo at midfield is slightly larger. The turf itself is slightly darker. The team areas on the sidelines are black.

The biggest change? The end zones are bright red.

“I don’t think we use red enough,” Dannen said in a wide-ranging interview with the Journal Star on May 24. “We say ‘Go Big Red.’ I mean, I expected the town to be red when I walked in and it wasn’t.
