San Diego State pitcher shuts down Huskers in California

Marissa Moreno pitched a complete game in helping the San Diego State softball team shut down Nebraska 4-0 in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Friday in Cathedral City, California.

Moreno scattered six Husker hits and struck out seven in improving to 4-1.

The Aztecs' offense backed Moreno with a three-run third inning. They added an insurance run in the fifth.

Nebraska, which is playing without leadoff hitter Alyvia Simmons, had six hits but couldn't get a big inning together. Freshman Lindsey Walljasper had two hits for the Huskers.

Olivia Ferrell suffered the loss. The sophomore right-hander pitched in an inning, giving up three runs on three hits.
