Two aces for 2 teams on different sides of the Big Ten Conference standings went to work on Friday night in Piscataway, New Jersey. The reigning conference and national pitcher of the week, Nebraska’s Brett Sears, and Rutgers’ Justin Sinibaldi pitched masterfully in their starts, allowing the occasional baserunner, but not letting things compound into run scoring opportunities.

The game went into the 6th inning a scoreless tie. Then the weather changed, and while the wind had been gusting all game, a sideways rain began to fall in the top of the 6th as Cayden Brumbaugh hit a 1 out double, forcing Sinibaldi into the stretch facing right into the sideways rain.
