The forest fire started on Nov. 23, and killed 14 people caused estimated damage of $500 million. About 20,000 acres of Great Smoky Mountains National were scorched.

The Vols will wear "Smokey Grey" uniforms during the Music City Bowl as their own way of honoring those hurt by the fire.

"I think that we're two programs that really have a great opportunity for representing the whole state," Husker head coach Mike Riley said Thursday, during a pregame press conference.
